How we use personal information
We use personal information only where we have a lawful reason to do so. This may include taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, performing a contract with you, meeting legal obligations, pursuing legitimate business interests, or relying on consent where consent is appropriate.

We do not use the website to make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
Who we may share information with
We do not sell personal information. Where necessary, information may be shared with organisations that help us operate the venue and provide services, including:
- Website hosting, email, IT support and website-management providers.
- ResDiary, where you use the restaurant booking widget.
- Ticket Tailor and associated payment providers where you buy tickets for an event.
- Payment processors, accountants, insurers, professional advisers and service providers involved in a transaction or event.
- Police, regulators, courts or other authorities where disclosure is required or permitted by law.
Third-party services act under their own privacy terms when you use their platforms or widgets. Their handling of information may therefore be subject to their own privacy notices in addition to this policy.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose it was collected, including customer service, legal, accounting, tax and dispute-resolution requirements. Retention periods vary according to the type of information and the reason we hold it.
- Routine enquiries are deleted or anonymised when they are no longer needed for customer service or legitimate business records.
- Booking, event and transaction records may be retained for longer where needed for accounting, contractual or legal purposes.
- Unsuccessful job applications are normally retained only for a limited recruitment period unless you agree that we may keep your details for future opportunities.
- Mailing-list records are retained while you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we may retain a limited suppression record so we can respect your opt-out and avoid sending further marketing.
Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances and the lawful basis we rely on, you may have rights to request access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability, or to object to certain uses of your information. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time.
The right to object is particularly relevant where processing is based on legitimate interests or where personal information is used for direct marketing. Requests can be sent to management@thegeorgecleckheaton.co.uk. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Security and international transfers
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information. However, no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Some service providers may store or process information outside the UK. Where this occurs, the provider is responsible for using an appropriate legal mechanism or safeguard where required by data protection law. You can contact us if you would like more information about the providers used in connection with your information.

Please contact management@thegeorgecleckheaton.co.uk first if you have a privacy concern or formal complaint, so we have the opportunity to investigate it.
